Nordic Diamonds Ltd. is a Canadian mining exploration Company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Nordic currently has a portfolio of properties that include diamond projects in Finland and Canada and also poly-metallic and uranium properties in Sweden. Nordic seeks to further explore, evaluate and develop its various exploration projects to enhance the asset value of the company. Nordic will also continue to look at further acquisitions to strengthen its property holdings. The Company plans on accomplishing this goal by using proven exploration techniques that include geochemistry, geophysics, drilling and bulk sampling.
Nordics commitment to its shareholders is to use the expertise of the management team to continue to accumulate, explore and develop top prospects for the benefit of our shareholders. Nordic will continue to look for opportunities throughout 2006 as management has an extensive network of industry contacts always on the lookout for new and exciting properties.
Nordic's main focus for the remainder of 2006 is the WM and the BRSC claims in northern Canada. Due the the discovery of a kimberlite boulder train on the WM claim during last years exploration season, the company will be undertaking an aggressive till sampling and possible drill program in the 2006 season. Nordic has received a lot of attention regarding this discovery due to its close proximity to the Tahera Diamond Mine. Walter Melnyk will personally be heading up the years exploration program along with two Russian geologists that were prolific is helping Mr. Melnyk discover the Snap Lake deposit.
Nordic is also exploring for diamonds in the Kuopio-Kaavi area which is located 350 kilometres north-northeast of Helsinki, Work conducted in the Kuopio-Kaavi region has included airborne geophysical surveys, extensive basal till sampling and a limited amount of drilling.
During the height of diamond exploration activity in Finland from 1987 to 1998, Ashton Mining of Australia was the most prominent explorer. During this period, Ashton formulated joint venture agreements with other companies and contracted many kimberlite experts. These joint venture partners and consultants were obligated to sign confidentiality agreements that prevented these parties from exploring for diamonds in the Kuopio-Kaavi region for periods of 5 to 10 years. This period of exclusion is still in effect for many of the key diamond companies and individuals. Nordic Diamonds finds itself in the enviable position of having acquired title to an entire kimberlite field after Ashton relinquished title to the area. Nordic's renewed interest and further re-evaluation of several of the known pipes is certainly bound to draw attention to the region and further stimulate investment for diamond exploration in the region.
The central and northern regions of Finland are one of the most prospective areas in the world where the geological conditions are ideal for the presence of economic diamond deposits. These conditions are similar to those in the Arkhangelske area of Russia, east of the Finnish border, which hosts four very rich diamond deposits valued at a total of US$20 billion. Management firmly believes that the Kuopio-Kaavi Diamond Field has the potential to host similar bodies.
Nordic Diamonds has acquired title to 18 out of the 25 known kimberlite bodies in the Kuopio-Kaavi region. The project area encompasses 44,000 hectares, surrounding these diamond bearing kimberlite bodies. The major objective is to develop one or more of these bodies into a diamond mine. Exploration for additional economic diamondiferous bodies in the region will be taken concurrently. One of the significant merits of the project is the established infrastructure of the region. A given deposit can be brought into production at significantly lower grades and smaller tonnages than those required in less developed areas of the world.
In addition to Nordic's experienced diamond exploration team, management plans to draw upon some of the world's top kimberlite and diamond experts to help it in its hunt for an economic deposit. One of these experts is Dr. Nikolai Pokhilenko, of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia. Dr. Pokhilenko, along with Walter Melnyk, Nordic's president, were involved in discovering the US$7.0 billion Snap Lake deposit. Dr. Pokhilenko is also credited with the discovery of at least two separate diamond fields in Russia. The company intends to work closely with the Finnish Geological Survey and the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) at Outokumpu.
